“This
was the first Forks Stand Down, and it was a landmark event. I believe that many

I
was great meeting with the VA Health Care – Patient Assistance personnel. They
were a big help for outreach information and referral.

Explained
Basic Health, Rx program and how the hospital and local clinics can serve their
health care needs (both short term and long term).
Comments:
Several
vets said they would not have been able to get their medications if it had not
been for the Rx program offered through the hospital.
Several
disabled vets said the hospital Rx program was a real life saver.
Staff comments:
“I
was particularly struck by the fact so many veterans are struggling for basic
health care. The veterans’ health care system seems cumbersome and
inaccessible. No one who has given so much t the common good should have to
struggle so hare to get needs met.”
Barber gave 12 hair cuts
The kitchen served 132 servings of food (all
were encouraged to come back for seconds).
